WHY WON’T MY COMPUTER RECOGNIZE MY MINI DV CAMCORDER?
I hit a sony mini dv camcorder and I hit no intent how to designate recording to the computer.
I went finished the pain of having to buy a firewire opening for the computer, so that I can ingest the firewire to getting video.
However, when I block it in, null happens at all. There are no sins of the ocputer recognizing the camera, and the camerabecomes grapheme when obstructed in.
Does anyone undergo what information I can ingest or if I requirement some drivers or something? What steps module I requirement to verify in visit for the machine to discern the camera? The machine recognizes the digital camera on usb, but not the camcorder with firewire.
Any support is such appreciated!! impart you.

The firewire drivers are built into Vista – Sony doesn’t supply them. You should be able to plug the camcorder in, switch it to play and then capture the video with Windows Movie Maker. If that doesn’t work, try this:-
Go into Device Manager (Control Panel / System / Hardware)
Expand the IEEE1394 Bus host controllers, right click on your device and uninstall it. If it’s not there to start with, you’ve got a problem!
Shut down your PC.
Connect the camcorder, switch it to play and reboot your PC. You should see messages coming up as the card and then the camcorder are detected.
If you’re still having problems after that, go back to wherever you bought the firewire card and ask them to confirm that it works under Vista.
If your camera is a sony and you are using windows vista than that is the same problem I had. I was told that it should work with the firewire port but you can always go to the manufacturers website and see if you can download an updated driver file. I got my computer to capture video from my camera but I had to download a free program that does only that and then I can edit it on another program.
You need to install a driver, Go to Control panel/add new hardware & the computer will search for & install the driver. Then you will be able to import your videos via Windows Movie Maker.
